Hope this one hasn't been mentioned - haven't got time to look through all of the posts to find out, but we use the glass plate from our old microwave as a classy way to serve pizza when friends come over. It's just the right size for those large pizzas, and it has the little legs on it to raise it up a bit off the table.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170

My DS feels the same, not just about cotton-wool but, also, velvet fabric and moths - because of their dusty wings! When he was a teenager and more of a pain than he is now I used to threaten to make him moth sandwiches! Gave him the creeps but it had to be done!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

OH and I (sounds a bit regal!) keep baby wipes in the glove compartments of our cars. A quick wipe round especially on the black bits of the cockpit makes the car look as though it's been valeted by a pro!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

I've heard of the olive oil treatment but have yet to try it. I don't want to look like a hippy or smell like a chip if it doesn't work! I'll let someone else have a go first and wait for their post!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

Hi everyone I dont post often but couldn't resist this one.
heres a tip to help with the problem of live youhurt ,when I needed to use it I
commandeered one of the old medicine syringes belonging to my
grandchildren.
I also use the cardboard tubs like pringles or instant gravy tub to
hold kebab skewers/chopsticks keeps them all tidy under my sink I cover
with generic pretty paper or old fablon
I use old cotton bud box or vasaline box as a tooth pick/cocktail stick
dispenser just drill a few holes and viola.
And last but not least I cut out the cooking instructions of rice/pasta
in fact all my dry goods and tape inside the container when I decant
them from their original bag, this way if any of my son's needed to cook
anything they would know what was what.
I also sometimes tape the free receipe which is printed on the back as well,
use the large font from the front of the package ie BASMATI RICE and
tape this to the front of the container to save buying labels.

In an attempt to cut down on buying unnecessary items I have a look at what I already have in and try to make that do. My latest tip is when straining yogurt (home made!) I didn't have any muslin and the strainer holes seemed too big so I used up my old coffee filters which have been sat in the cupboard since domesday. Worked a treat!
It made me wonder what tips other osers have used...necessity is the mother of invention!Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000

I used to use my coffee filters for straining chip fat, back in the days when we ate chips.

Don't forget to use the liquid (whey) from straining yogurt in baking
It's good for scones, soda bread and yeasted bread.

Hi Desperate Housewife,
We have an older thread on this that should give you lots more ideas so I've merged your thread with it to keep all the suggestions together.
