I am looking for some oak furniture for my dining room. I want quality at the right price. Any suggestions from anyone?

If you don't mind used stuff, then G-Plan ?0

We have had lovely pieces from pine solutions. Great service too.0

Don't buy new; even genuine antique pieces from auction will be better quality and cheaper.
There's an advert on tv at the moment showing oak furniture which looks both unseasoned and as if it's made from just a few planks thrown together - I'm no carpenter but give me a saw and I'll bet I could do a better job."I'm ready for my close-up Mr. DeMille...."0 -
I like the oak furniture from livingwoods, but it's not the cheapest.

Yes, good choice! Oak furniture is sometimes suitable for dining rooms. You can buy used furniture also to save your money. Sometimes used furniture can be bought in good conditions. Moreover, I have got some amazing oak furniture items at Dooleys Furniture. Oh....... one thing is that you should take care about your new furniture from the beginning.0

Thanks for the advice. So far it's a toss up between Living Woods and Furniture Port. I will let you know, but I would welcome more suggestions. I could not understand the post about Dooleys Furniture? Please explain.0

Forgot to add. Advice about oil treatment of oak would be welcome and suppliers' names/links please.0

I've used Furniture Port before, they have a good choice of oak furniture and even some of the same ranges as Debenhams but cheaper. They have a sale on at the moment too so good time to buy.
You can often find good deals on eBay too if you don't mind having a good search!0 -
You seem to be right JennyW, FurniturePort range of Oak Furniture is almost parallel to that available in Debenhams and cheaper too. Looking at the forum I think oakfurnitureland needs to be given a wide berth. Any ideas on cleaning and treatment of the furniture?0

When I purchased from Furniture Port I enquired about treatment/cleaning. Their products are already treated so to clean the oak just needs to be wiped with a damp cloth! Hope this is helpful.0
