Talk about lightbulb moment number 362.
Sorry diary, the last five weeks have been busy, but here I am. I still have 2 months to get it under control.
I have downloaded the most excellent app onto my phone for debt management and something inside me has clicked. I have input the debts including the mortgage, and it's calculated that at this rate we'll be debt free by 2063
22/10/13: Including the mortgage it's £224,578.76.
Loving this app. Obsessed with app. Inspired and motivated by app!0 -
5th of the month; time for the monthly progress report.
And the good news is - better than last month, so another green square on the spreadsheet!
We have paid off the HP on the car (7%) with a loan from the inlaws (2.5%), put the car up for sale, and wait with baited breath.
Fixed the energy bills and earned £20 gift voucher plus cashback hopefully.
Bought 2 new tyres for DH's car, earning clubcard points and cashback too.
Got a free front door to replace old, holey one. It will look great with a new lick of (black gloss) paint.
Got a roofbox for next years camping trip for £20 through the MSE app for ebay local.
DH SORN'd his motorbike, first time in 20 years, I believe!!!
We did not buy the new tv that DH has been eyeing up.
We did not part ex my car for something more expensive.
We did not have takeout pizza at the weekend.
I did not cave in and buy DS the crocodile outfit he literally was begging me for last week.
I did not buy the £5 stick-on cat whiskers from Claires Accessories

5th of the month..
What a difference! We've paid off the driveway and have a bit more cash in the current account leftover.
I've also pretty much finished the Christmas shopping. Not much to spend on food either, I have £30 M&S vouchers saved for a Turkey crown and a few other bits for treats.
Told DH how good the figures look, he said "we could've had takeaway pizza and we're eating homemade soup instead!"
(sigh.)
The only bad news is that I've somehow managed to go up a jeans size. Managed to find a pair of NYDJ for £4.50 in the CS. So comfy I'd be tempted to buy a new pair at £130. Nah.0
