Likely Scenario on train tomorrow?

This morning, checking the reference number for the tickets that i am about to pick up at the train station , for travel tomorrow morning. I have noticed that i must have accidently booked for a train an hour later than i need. To catch this train, would mean missing the connection that i have valid tickets for. - therefore not possible!
The journey lasts 50mins and is less than £10. A cancelation charge or change of time costs £10. If i used the ticket bought in error on the 1 hour earlier train, -Am I likely to run into problems? I suspect both train journeys would cost the same amount! thanks

Maybe. You can only try and explain it to the on train staff and be prepared to buy a new ticket. Some staff understand and some do not. I'd take the gamble.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Depends on ticket type bought. some standard class tickets give you seat reservations/times usually for longer journeys.
On these tickets you can travel at other time but seat will not be reserved:)
If the ticket has Advance on it, then it is only valid on timed train bought:(

If it's advanced you'll need to buy a new ticket or pay the £10 admin fee to change it, but you need to do it today to change it. Do whichever is cheaper for you, buying a new ticket or the £10 admin fee.0

Without further information it is hard to give an accurate answer, but at worst you could be reported for travelling without a valid ticket and end up in court, although that is highly unlikely it remains a possibility.
You would have to be very lucky not to end up having to pay for a new ticket, but depending on the ticket type you may be able to travel on an earlier train at no extra cost.Employee of a National Rail train company.0 -
Well buying another ticket is only £7 , so i will probably do this today. Normally i would take a risk, as i do begrudge paying twice for the same journey, as i am not trying to swizzle them. I'm on the matched betting board so risk is my middle name! but it isnt worth the hassle. What i will do, is show the "invalid " ticket to the conductor first and see whether he pulls me up. Thanks for the replies!
Well i have bought another ticket and need to pick it up later on at the railway station. - My pain has been somewhat alleviated by Tidal Bay romping home in the last 10 yards at Leopardstown at 5/1"if the state cannot find within itself a place for those who peacefully refuse to worship at its temples, then it’s the state that’s become extreme".Revd Dr Giles Fraser on Radio 4 20170 -
Just an update on how things went. I got on a busy train with all the tickets on an East Midlands train. I specifically gave the ticket collector the later train tickets. He clipped them and off he went, without any problems On the return journey , the guard inspector meticulously checked them, although they were legitimate.
Unbeknown to me, I had received an email from East Midlands after purchasing second lot of tickets. It said that because of a derailment in Loughborough, any advance tickets could be used on earlier trains if required.........
