Kindle- Paperwhite or Fire?
Comments
-
I have the old Kindle keyboard (currently waiting for replacement, as mine gave up the other day
, but it should arrive tomorrow
). It is much more comfortable to use than my son's Fire, which he kindly lent me so that I could finish off the book I was reading. I fidn the Fire quite heavy, and the screen has a glare that is absent in the original Kindle, although I use black ink on sepia background, which has less glare than the white background.
I haven't used the paperwhite, so I can't comment. I believe that it is the same sort of size and weight as the original Kindle though, so far more comfortable to hold IMO.
ETA: Whatever you get, if you want to download free books, you can sign up for a daily email from https://www.kuforum.co.uk or https://www.ereaderiq.co.uk - books are free at the time they are listed, but can become chargeable quite quickly. Some are rubbish, but I have found some decent authors including Ken McClure and Katherine John, both of whom I have enjoyed in 'real' books in the past. An author new to me, but very good, is Timothy Frost. He writes thriller/crime and it was one of his books that I was reading when my Kindle died completely. I couldn't wait to find out what happened next, so thank goodness my son lent me his Fire!0 -
Just wondered if anyone has any experience of reading books with diagrams on them on any of the Kindles?
I wanted to get a Kindle and read text books with pictures and charts and so on, it would be great to read something I'd otherwise have to read at home due to weight and instead carry it on a Kindle, but I'm not sure if the images would transfer to Kindles as well, does anyone know or have any experience?
Also, is it possible to write notes on any of the pages or highlight areas and so on? Or is it strictly read-only?
I can imagine the Kindle Fire/HD versions would all work really well for any images or diagrams but I like the e-ink thing and can't afford a Kindle Fire or HD!0
