I think reductions happen gradually, depending on the sell by date of each item, and if they have massive amounts of stock they wish to get rid of to make way for new. I was in Tesco yesterday, there wasn't much reduced in the sweets, chocs etc, but loads of fresh veg and meat to be had. I suggest you keep going in to have a look.

In Tesco yesterday, they had a large quantity of own brand Mince Pies (6 in a red box) at the front which had been reduced to 13p a box. There must have been nearly 100 packs. The BBE was the 27/12 but in reality I find that mince pies last for yonks.
