    Hi Silverco
Well done on coming back. That can be quite hard. Did you ever do a Statement of Affairs (link in the first time users thread above this one)? Even if just for yourself and your OH?

If you have had a lifestyle change then now would be a good time to reassess anyway.

Did you manage to get your food bill down? I would agree that 400 for food for two people and a cat is a lot. I am assuming that you don't have a medical special diet that makes it very expensive?

You do realise that changing supermarkets would almost certain bring your grocery spending down with relatively little pain. Also down shifting a brand will also help with this. There are very few things that taste better for being in a branded tin or packet! That goes for the cat too.

Good luck at sticking to it this time

    Hi chev

I haven't done an SOA for a long time, so will take some time out to do that, might make things a little clearer.

Food bill is still horrendous and way above what it should be for two plus cat. Latter is on a special vet diet as she's elderly, so works out around £45 a month just for her, but I could get the food cheaper online I'm sure. I have a real problem with food for us, even when I make a conscious effort to budget  We shop in Sainsbugs mainly, with odd trip to Mr T, but I also like to shop in local farm shops for fruit and veg etc. buy maybe that's an expense too far? Will definitely look at dropping a brand, as I'm sure this will help.

Thanks for your advice, as they say, every little helps! :)

Ok so how have you got on with your down shifting? Fully understand about elderly cats and diets, you just have to take that hit on the nose.

There is a comparison site I think called my supermarket. YOu put in your docket of stuff and then it tells you where it would have been cheaper. Can be quite a difference between supermarkets.

And I would argue that Sainsbury are the second most expensive after Waitrose.

    good luck
