  • Hi everyone, thanks for letting me join. My goals are as follows:

    1) To form a Rock/Metal band (preferably all female)
    2) Increase my confidence in playing Bass guitar and singing
    3) To find 10 new bands - small bands treat their fans better.
    4) To regain my fitness - I injured my knee running last year and I would love to start running again.
    5) To learn Yoga
    6) Have a holiday - ideas are Glastonbury (not the festival), New York (if I am flush), Prague and Paris.
    7) To learn guitar
    8) To have £5000 saved up just in case I want to go 'on tour'
    9) To attend a festival with a few of my bands on my 'wish list'
    10) To get my tattoo finished.

I have lots others but these are the main ones. :D

  • The only thing I managed to achieve today is try and learn two new songs as I am meeting with a few musicians but couldn't grasp the rhythm! :( will try again tomorrow. It's hard with little confidence.

I hope everyone made great steps today!

As its the last day in Jan i thought i would do a quick review of my goals and see how much i have stuck to my plans etc - am a bit scared to look!!:o

    To reduce debt by £5000

Ok now this is something i am really pleased with my progress on - have reduced debt by almost £3,000 already and have actually increased my years target to £10,000 :D

To start exercising 3 times a week

Ummm i was exercising everyday initially but that has gone to the wayside. I do walk up and down to the shops/post office etc at least once a week and that is 6 miles round trip so not doing nothing but would like to get back to a better routine

To get rid of the boxes and boxes of stuff I have gathered up

hmmm, i have made a bit of a start on this by selling on ebay - will be able to do a lot more once i get the car sorted

    To join a sewing group

This would be a no - i have found one at least but not managed to go yet!

To lose at least 1 stone in weight

Hmmm this one not going too well - think i might have lost 1lb or so :rotfl::rotfl: think that is a can do better :p

To do a business plan for my crafts and website

Not started this at all - not sure where to start really atm so maybe could start by looking at some plans online :)

To get my car back on the road

Whew this has been a biggie!! I have been trying hard to get it sorted but its not been easy to source parts. Hopefully the right parts have now arrived and i will get a bit further with this next month

    To sort my daily finances

I have got a good few things sorted out moneywise, but i haven't yet sat down and calculated a daily target or budget etc - def need a bit more work on this next month

    Keep House Clean and Tidy

Not been doing too badly with this - a few days of god look at this place but not many - quite pleased with this so far

Get up to £1000 in my Zopa account

This one kinda ticks along on its own - i don't have any spare cash to add to it atm, but the interest does keep it edging upwards - If i can get it up to £700 by the end of Feb i will be happy enough

Ok so overall i don't feel too bad about how its been going - def i have a few good progress ones but also a few have gone a bit off the boil as such - will try to work on the ones i've been neglecting a bit this month. I have also signed up for the web design course, which i guess could go in the business planning section, but also gives me another goal so will add this one to the list :)

After 1 month I don't think I'm doing too badly.
    1) To start saving money to move out I have opened a savings account using money the tax man kindly sent me. Once I have paid for my holiday I will be putting so much money into it a month. I have also started saving all my 20p, 5p, 1p and 2p coins. So far I have £6.20 in 20p and have saved enough £1 per day to get me to Monday.
    2) To exercise more often I have joined the gym, and been once! My gym buddy has been ill so hopefully we'll be able to go now she's recovered. I have also done a lot more walking in the
    3) To complete my proofreading course I'm not doing brilliantly with this as other things are getting in the way (like being exhausted from work!) BUT I'm going to have a big push to do some of it over half term
    4) Not buy any birthday/christmas/anniversary/easter cards and make them all instead - possibly with a view to selling some. None made to sell yet, but I have made 2 get well cards and 3 birthday cards as required so far this year :) and none bought from the shops :D
    5) Read a lot more (aiming for an hour a day at least as this is roughly my bus commute time) I think I've read 4 "grown up" books so far this year. I set a target for how many I want to read a year and usually alternate with a couple of children's books as they're quick reads often, but I haven't read any kid's books yet.
    6) Learn to drive The rubbish weather is hampering this at the moment. My OH has promised to take me out in the car but the opportunities we could have had have been spoiled by the snow!
    7) Eat more healthily and cook from scratch more often! I'm doing better at this. When I'm hungry for snacks I often reach for celery and tomatoes instead of the chocolate I still have from Christmas!
