Amazon Gift returns?

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, so mods please feel free to move.
But like many over Xmas, we have had gifts that we would 'secretly' like to return due to duplicates etc.
Amazon have this facility, but it wants you to add the order number? and the sender's name and e-mail address, and the phone number of the address where the gift was shipped?
Well as a gift, we don't have this - and secondly does their account show that we have 'returned' something - which could be embarrasing?
Sorry I'm a bit new to this

Did you not read the top of the form:You can return multiple gift items from the same order. We'll issue you store credit in the form of an e-mail gift certificate. Don't worry--we won't tell the gift giver about your return!
If you don't have the order number it says you can contact customer services with details of the person that bought it. If you don't know the details then I don't think you will be able to return it, after all how will they know that it was even purchased from Amazon.0 -
I had an Amazon gift this Christmas and the details of the order were in an envelope inside the box - all details apart from the price. What is not clear though is if the sender gets the credit returned to their card or whether you get a 'credit note' to spend on Amazon.0

It says on the website, you will get the value as a gift certificate.0 -
i'm glad someones asking this as i've been given a gold necklace and would rather send it back and get something else than have another necklace as i've got loads and it was a back up present in case the other one didn't come through.:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one

Ok so I have selected the items I want to return in MY account, but I got the order number from my wife's account secretly
I have selected the items and said "no longer needed" is that correct or the best one to use??
So they all say REFUND only, BUT will this go to my account as i'm doing this in MY amazon account, or will this go back onto the card (her card!) and she will know I've sent these back?
Sorry for this as I've never done this before and don't want to mess it up :cool:0 -
