Standard free view is being switched off in 5 years? really?
No. It's been talked about, but not confirmed. Read this: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/11/19/freeview_bump_5g/0 -
This coalition treats us like a load of crooks and fools and we let them get away with it by letting them distract us by talking about homosexuals and hunts.
But let them try to take away our television and we will all be out on the streets and manning the barricades.0 -
Could you post a link showing Standard Freeview is being switched off in 5 yrs, then.
I believe this is what they are referring too http://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/binaries/consultations/uhf-strategy/statement/UHF_statement.pdf
Ofcom Strategy Doc detailing a move to Freeview HD on a lower spectrum on the digital platform.
Will need a retune if you have HD not sure what it means if you do not have HD I thought you could receive the HD signal without a HD TV but not actually see it in HD so not sure a box will be required.I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0 -
We have had to retune ours recently something to do with making space for 3G it hasn't made any difference0

Please read my post carefully - "there ARE PLANS to turn off the freeview signal".
There have already been 2 links posted on this thread which confirm these plans are under consideration, so I won`t be posting more.
I have shared information - it is up to you to use it (or not) as you see fit. I`m certainly not going to engage in bad mannered confrontation with anyone over what was intended as a heads-up.I was surprised when I found out , so I thought I`d share. My source was a TV engineer who installs the new youview (freeviewhd) boxes.
Some people just won`t be helped .......:(0 -

"Under cosideration" is a bit different than it is going to happen.
