Kensington NXT iPod dock - £29.95 at Richer Sounds

Spotted a Kensington iPod dock for £29.95 at Richer Sounds. It seems to cost about £70 elsewhere, since it has a novel 'NXT' flat speaker system. Apparently this means better sound quality in a smaller package; I'm not sure I believe that, but whatever, it definitely looks cool.

I am in the USA at the moment and got my hands on one of these at the weekend.

It is a triumph of style over function. Flimsy controls, poor build quality and at best average sound. It is probably only worth £29.95, certainly not its original £79.95 price.

If you want one of these, you could also try ebuyer. It's 37.98 including delivery, but using ebuyer's Google Checkout offer, you can get one for 27.98. It IS nice to look at, but I don't know how good it sounds.

just a warning..a lot of these ipod docks are really damaging to the ipod battery. over time, the battery life becomes shorter and shorter. i have experienced this problem myself, and i know several people who have had the same problem.

i've been lucky that my ipod was in warranty, so i could get replacements. i am using my 3rd ipod of this kind now, and only since i have stopped using a dock has the battery life remained normal.
