GHD hair straightener

Hi all,

I am contemplating to buy a new hair straightner from last month.

Saw this GHD straightner in amazon for £99. It's a classic gold mark IV .

Due to boxing day it's now down to £69.

It's still a bit expensive for me. Anybody know about this Ghd straightner is it any good? Or shall I go for a cheaper baby bliss or Remington.

Thanks in advance.

GHD are a good company to deal with - my wife's broke a little way out of warranty and they replaced it without quibble.

If you can afford it I'd go for GHD as I have had cheaper versions and just never found them quite as good
  • I got mine about 8 years ago and they are still going strong! I paid £99 then for them so that's a great price.

I used to want a set of GHDs 10 years ago. I had wanted them long before my mother and sister got them and just bought myself cheaper versions but borrowed my mum's when I went to visit her as she used to dye my hair for me.

I went through about 5 different pairs. Either returning them because they did not work (I think this was due to the temperature being that much lower on them: GHDs go up to around 400 degrees or so I think). Or they'd not be thin enough to get to my roots or they'd break after I dropped them and had broken them or they snagged strands of my hair which really hurt!

I got a set of GHDs from Amazon with some vouchers a few years back and they have lasted far longer then any other set. They just feel easier to hold- they aren't as hard work to use (the spring isn't set to muscle-man requirements) and they just straighten the first time I run them through my hair rather then finding after covering a second section, the first section has stopped being straight!

GHDs are worth it if you have the money (or vouchers!) it does make the difference.
  • what are you trying to achieve with your hair style? I think ghd where the best straightener in there day, ie the poke straight hair finish, albeit you can experiment with creating different styles if you learn to curl etc with them.
So many other styling products available now to give a salon finish to more natural looking or volume enhanced hair.
my ghds are rarely used these days, im in favour of babyliss styling tools like the babyliss big hair rotating styler (a hot air brush stlyler that gives almost dry hair a sleek shiny finish with some body/movement) and great for reviving slept in hair. 24.99 most places
Or the diva big waves waver, the best waver on the market giving actual waves effect as oppose to the cheaper tools giving a big angled crimp effect 69.00
If you still like the poker straight look, ghds are the best for this in my opinion
