Tracing an old Sun Alliance pension

Hello there.
Way back in 1986 I took out a pension with Sun Alliance via one of their reps who used to call into my workplace. I only paid into it for about 6 months before my financial circumstances changed and I was unable to continue to pay into it.
I'm wondering about tracing it now, or even if there's any point in tracing it now.
I've moved house several times during the period between then and now, got married, and have no actual paperwork such as policy numbers etc. (I know, naive at 17, that was me!)
Would there be any point in tracing it? I think I'd paid about £1000 into it at the time- I remember that because I remember thinking that I could do with the £1000 when my job ended!
Just wondering because it popped into my head the other day when I was helping my dad sort out his pension.

It is worth finding out but chances are it has no value. Pensions of that era (like most investment contracts of the time) typically took 12-24 months of premiums as charges up front. So, if you stopped after 6 months, you would expect little or no value to have been accrued.
You could always ask Phoenix if there is a value on it.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Thank you dunstonh. I thought something like that might be the case, but that it might be worth checking out.
