Hi all,
I have a long list of things I need to buy. Will spend almost £500 on after Xmas sale - buying essentials like coats, rain jackets, jeans, trainers, etc etc that me, my dh and our little one will need until next year...
Is it best to hit the shops on Oxford street tomorrow morning or just buy online?

online, online, online.
my shop days are over unless I really really have to. totally not worth it.
online deals are better anyway.
only go oxford street if u have a plan, know what you're getting and not just browsing. You'll fail otherwise.0 -
I think when you have a little one it's best to order a couple of sizes online and keep them out of the scrum...especially on Oxford Sreet (did it on Friday 14th it was manic)
Unless you are looking to purchase anything truly expensive that you couldn't afford to have on an accouunt or card I would go for online.

:eek:Nightmare out there on the roads, so must be utter crazyness in the shops - pushing, shoving, swearing, screaming kids, buggies / trollies..... only for the strong willed who do not mind being shoved around abit.
Shopping online things taken from basket, pages load slowly, site crashes, email confirming order then cancellation of order due to stock. Delivery charges, delivery driver does not turn up, parcel returned, parcel late, items not as expected.
Still I would chose online :T0 -
Why not both? Does it have to be an either/or question?:money::beer:#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.

Where am I likely to get things cheaper in boxing day sale? online or instore? Items I'd like to buy are listed below....the reason I am asking is, since I will be spending a substantial amount, even 10% difference can save me lots...
I am a fairly recent MSE convert....trying to learn to do things right....
1. Coats/ jackets for me, dh and 4yr old (dh and me want Nike ones)
2. Work wear dresses for me
3. Party clothes for my daughter (4yrs old)
4. Trainers for my husband (Nike)
5. Rain coats for both of us
6. External portable hard drive -1tb
7. Gift sets for family abroad (about 10 of them -£6ish each)
8. Office shoes for dh
9. School shoes for dd
10. Running shoes for me
11. Handy cam for my mum
12. Duvet covers etc
13. Chocolates (loads -appx 3kg) to take when visiting family
14. Small presents (toys) for DDs friends bday party's this year
15. Snow boots for dh and me
16. A nice wallet for dh (got robbed in Spain last week)
17. Epilator for me
18. Some casual dresses, tops for me
I just noticed that there are no trains running from my place tomorrow. So getting to Oxford street or purley way (croydon) will mean 1.5hrs travel each way changing 2 busses...will go if it's worth it....i never did proper planned shopping on boxing day, so I am clueless about where/how to find bargains...
If I have to go to the shops, what time would be ideal? I won't be taking the kid along....There is more to life than increasing its speed.0 -

I don't think you needed to go into quite so much detail0 -
I think the images on the news are definate turn off for hitting the sales with children,
There's always another sale0 -
Just be aware of P+P/delivery charges (and the fcat post can go missing)
I bought all my pressies online this year and didnt factor in p+p which added at least £25  also royal mail lost 3 of my items.
But if you can bypass delivery charges and have reliable mail deleivery go for onlineThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
online....cashback site + bought with a cashback credit card curled up on the sofa, cup of tea in hand = no brainer.
no rude shoppers/staff, no partners dragging their feet and thankfully no bruises from where people have rammed buggy's into your legs!0 -

Best to shop where you can get the best prices!
I wouldn't buy too much for your 'Little One' in advance sale or no, they grow too quickly and by the time they fit the sizes you have bought that are too big then you might not like the clothes or they might not fit as well as you hope they might.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0
