Another 'horror' story for you...
When I first started Primary School - age 5.
I had gone to the loo which were outside & across the playground, from class.
On the way back & passing through the cloakroom I decided I was going home.
Got my hat (which was a strange knitted thing with a tassel on the back & a metal enclosed alice band ???) & set off.
My school was in Charlwood & we lived in Lowfield Heath - 3 miles away around Gatwick Airport. Busy road.
Anyway I'm halfway home when a man appeared & said he would walk with me...
Next thing I can recall is the headmaster stopping in his Rover with my elder sister & taking me back to school.
My teacher - Miss Crampion shook me :eek: really shook me  & made my sister escort me everywhere after thatOur Family Motto ~If all else fails - read the instructions...
