Chorizo sausage purchased in Belfast Xmas market

Hi
In Belfast Xmas market yesterday I purchased a bag of various chorizos and dried things for a tenner. I think the stall is run in partnership with the German beer tent as it was only after drinking a fair few steins that I considered purchasing a shed load of chorizo. I've never even tasted it before to be honest. Some of the bagfull look like various flavours of normal chorizo sausage, there's also what looks like a string of dried cocktail sausages, something else that looks like a dried stick, another that looks a bit like a dried twix bar.
My question is for anyone else who happened to buy from that stall is:
- do I need to cook the chorizo sausage or is it already cooked?
- any idea what the other stuff could be
- how long does this chorizo stuff keep for in a fridge
- any ideas on what to do with this much chorizo
- why did I buy this nonsense
Thank you

It probably 'cured' /smoked/fermented/dried so can be eaten without cooking
As regards quality that's a big 'IF'0 -
ohhh i love chorizo! I've kept it for weeks in the fridge and you can add it to all sorts - my favorite is jambalaya. it's nice with wine and cheese, in sandwiches and in spicy stews.
You get chorizo that is cured and therefore can be eaten without cooking and sometimes its more like a sausage and does need to be cooked. I bought some yesterday from Morrisons and it was clearly labelled as needing to be cooked - had it not, i wouldn't have been able to tell the difference just by looking at it.0 -
I use it on pizzas (like you would with pepperoni) and in a pasta bake. We also put it in paella.0

You don't need to cook any of the sausages in the £10 bag, they're all cured. And if you keep them in the fridge, they'll last months. Just don't leave them in the cupboard or you'll ruin them.
Most of the sausages are just different flavors (Pepper/Spices/Salted/Herbs) Some are just a different shape.
We buy a bag every year as a present and it goes down very well. There's always that option if you don't want to eat them.
You could have a search around online for recipes, but I'd just slice them up and have them on a pizza or in a sandwich.0 -
It is amazing in paellea! Try it0

I tend to take supermarket labels of "must be cooked" on continental meats with a pinch of salt...
Tesco started labelling pancetta that way a few years back. Presumably because it's "bacon".0 -
I freeze mine in big chunks and slice off what I need for pizza etc.0

I put my chorizo in a pan with finely diced onion, garlic and a little chilli (no oil) and let it fry then add chicken and fry until cooked - then add the juice of freshly squeezed lemon. Serve with pasta, potatoes or whatever!
