Web conference

I am not sure where to post this but my friend has asked me whether I could do some search and look for web conference websites, she needs it for her work as she is a temp. I have not got a clue but wonder whether anybody could help me with this. Basically she needs some website with infor regarding web conference reputable sites, her computer is on the blink at the moment so I have offered to do it for her. Thanks

Is she trying to arrange a web conference? For how many people and does she have a budget?

WebEx is only free for 3 people (i.e. 2 plus host) otherwise it's a monthly fee. I have used some other web conference services (the names escape me), but WebEx seems to be most popular one in my line of work.

Minimum of 30 partners to be able to participate
    · Electronic recording of partners log in so as to know who is on the call

    · Ability to operate over web or via phone at the same time (not all partners may be able to use the web at all times)

    · Must be web based – don’t want to have partners having to install things behind firewalls etc

    · Low cost – monthly subscription preferred but can look to longer periods

Pl if you could help with the above, will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  • So you doing the research = you asking someone else to do the research!
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

I think WebEx should be able to deal with the above (don't quote me on that, I've only ever been an end user, never organised a conference myself!), but for over 30 participants, she'll need to ask for a quote. See below, she should be able to give them a ring, even with her computer on the blink:
If your business requires groups of larger than 25, please contact our Solutions Specialists on 0800 389 9772 (toll free) or +44 (0)161 250 0706 to discuss products for larger groups: WebEx Enterprise, and WebEx Event Center, Training Center and Support Center.

I can't think of anything else that might meet the specs - maybe worth posting on the small businesses forum?

It really depends how many people you wish to speak to at any one time.

For free options, you could use SKYPE group conference (upto 25 people) or Messenger?

    For paid option, Adobe Connect.

What about google hangouts? I guess it depends what features you want (e.g. Call in from a regular phone, conference recording, sharing screens/control of computers..)

My employer seems to use Gotomeeting, though I've never had to set one up myself.

ETA. Scratch that, it looks like they can only host up to 25 attendees.

Thanks for that, that was one of the names I couldn't remember and it was driving me mad! :p

huh - I thought I'd been on massive GTM.... turns out it's called something else: http://www.gotomeeting.co.uk/fec/webinar
as well as WebEx I'm sure BT do something similar: http://www.btconferencing.co.uk/products-and-services/bt-meetme-audio-conferencing/
  • You can try using various web conferencing tools such as WebEx, GoMeetNow, gotomeeting etc., in order to conduct web conferences, webinars, online meetings etc. Alternatively, your friend can even consider deploying on premise web conferencing appliance such as RHUB appliances.
