I wouldn't give a 2 year old crisps or biscuits. If she is hungry some bread/toast.

Also anti squash - just don't like the "no added sugar" bit which means artificial sweetners! I'd rather give water, watered down fruit juice or cup of tea!!

I never used wipes as DD was allergic so it was always cotton wool and water. Not sure if it's cheaper.

For hand and face washing after meals I had a pile of flannels rather than kitchen roll or wipes.

I used cotton wool and own brand baby lotion for nappy change, lasts for ages and much gentler than the wipes.

Snacks. small pots fromage frais, raisins, bread sticks, rice cakes, banana, apple slices and cheese cubes, babybel (£2 for 12 atm) a few grapes. melon, crackers and cheese, strawberries, cold sausages, small portion of cooked pasta with grated cheese on top.

Any small left over portion of any healthy food will do a toddler for a snack.

It is amazing how once used to water, they won't have anything else.

Tea isn't suitable for young children because of the caffeine in it and not all squashes have artificial sweeteners in.

My kids when little never drank 'pop' (still don't) and I thought I was doing well giving them fruit juice till the dentist told me otherwise - he said that it's the worst thing for children's teeth and said that water or milk were the best drinks to give them.

My 2 year old won't eat bread/toast. She had suspected norovirus the week before last and I was advised to give her crisps as they weren't likely to make her sick like dairy or meat would, and they would replace some of the salt she lost throwing up.

I won't ever give her dried apricots and don't really like her having raisins - they're nature's wine gums. She ploughs her way through loads of fruit and veg most days though. She does have the occasional biscuit, and very occasionally squash or diluted juice (eg when she's been sick and her mouth tastes nasty) but mostly just drinks water, milk or the dregs from my tea!

I found it hard to find squash without artificial sweetners in, especially in the value brand which is sugar free!. One cup of tea a day is fine. DD used to steal OH coffee when young (I don't drink it) and unfortunately he had it sugared!!!!

I agree about the fruit juice, should always be drunk via a straw to protect teeth and consumed with meals to reduce sugar attacks on teeth. DD almost 18 and no fillings :T

I did have an issue with DD that if she was only offered water she just wouldn't drink at all so you have to balance with dehyrdration. I still remind her to drink when she complains of a headache!

We rarely have pop in the house, Xmas and parties!! DD could have it out if we were out for a meal etc. but again, through a straw to protect teeth.

I would have thought that crisps being greasy would have made her worse. My mother always used to give us crackers, dry ones!!! Yum:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Have you tried eggy bread or toasted sarnies?

I gave her square crisps - they're not greasy. She managed a few each day, plus some crackers and amazingly a couple of pieces of fruit bread. Tried her with it since she's been better and she's back to not being interested. She also isn't interested in rice, pasta or potatoes (apart from the odd wedge or chip). I'm not bothered about it, to be honest. We don't need a huge amount of cereal or starch in our diets - certainly not 3 times a day. She's healthy eating what she wants to eat. She's never been near a chicken nugget or sausage roll!!

Oh I love fruit bread, unfortunately I'm the only one in the house so end up eating the whole loaf!:rotfl:

My DD announced a couple of years ago at a party "I like sausage rolls but I don't like the middle" - so that would be the pastry then:D

Hi, good luck for this week!

I use the 10p stock cubes in cooking and they honestly are fine for children. Just taste whatever your cooking before you add extra salt,

Again with tinned tomatoes, i rarely add sugar to cope with the bitterness. But if i do its less than than a quarter of a teaspoon. If you have a blender just whizz then ujo in that or mas them.

The tesco value powered custard sachets are quite good. I just make it up with up hot water and serve. You can also freeze it in little pots. thedn on the day you little one just defrost it for her. Thnk its 17p a packet, but i could be wrong.

Tesco do a value bag of mixed dried fruit which apricots, rains etc. Could be cheaper than buying separate bags of dried fruit.

Oh and frozen berries defrost really quickly in minutes and can be used in pancakes from frozen. Some times i place frozen fruit in a bowl and my children suck on them like sweets. Its really helped them when teething.

I would also buy a large bag of carrots, they more expensive long run but they for a week or longer. Same as onions and potatoes they last for ages.

I would just say to my partner of you can't go with muller yoghurts then you'll have to give something else up.This works with my oartner. Now we buy a big tub of plain value yogurt and value jam or honey to it. Tastes the same, my friend ask choclate spread to yoghurt and says it tastes quite nice.

For the skinless chickens i wouldn't bither, just buy it with the skin its much cheaper. I notice you said about needing to put calories on, so the skin will give you extra calories to if that helps.

DEcaffinated tea does contain caffiene just a smaller amount. My son is 12 and he;s only just started drinking tea, my son is 8 and he's not allowed. I just think e;s to young.

Oh and te creamfields whole milk (4 pints) is a £1 so worth putting it on your list to.
