my local had loads of stock on the bacon, beans and shrooms. Beans were stacked by the pallet load all over the store. Seemed to be lots of offers dotted around the store.

Hope we get some good meat deals in the new year, past few months have been a bit poor

Did anyone notice that theve cut the skinny end off the rashers - guess they went on the pigs in blankets at xmas - made me smile but im easily pleased. stubby bacon lol

warning, bacon is full of presersatives and salt and has been strongly linked to increasing cancer etc, I don't miss it since cutting it out

Yep even organic bacon has preservatives. The only one I know of that doesn't is Laverstoke Park Farm organic bacon but that goes a horrible grey colour when cooked which is a bit off-putting.

If you're wanting a bacony taste rather than a fried breakfast eg in sandwiches then I suggest the Negroni prosciutto at Lidl 1.99. Just pork legs and salt and it keeps unopened in fridge for ages.
