Not having speeches?

  • My partner is quite shy tbh so he's not keen on doing a speech and his best man really won't do a speech I think he's got problems.

So not sure if we're going to cut them or not.

  • My partner is very shy too so we're having no first dance and only a couple of very short speeches. I don't want him panicking all day over reading a novel out. You need to do what suits you, if others don't like it then really that is their problem not yours.
  • I think no formal speeches is fine, but one of you should at least stand up and say thank you to everyone who has come to see you married :)

Why should the thank yous be a big public affair? Why can't they be private and individual?

So true, i'm a wedding photographer and the greeting lines at the reception or church are usually used to thank the guests so why repeat it.

No speeches here either! OH would spend the entire day in a state of panic if he had to stand up and say anything, even to our tiny group of best friends and family. There is no way I was putting him through that!

I think my brother is going to lead a toast to us before our lunch but that will be it, we will be chatting to everyone around the table anyway!

I don't really 'do' the whole formal thing really anyway so that helps!

Very happily married on 10th April 2013 :D

I don't understand why this has to be done in public?
