Worth buying Skylanders Giants starter instead of booster for the extra figures?

My son has Spyro's Adventure for the Wii already and we were getting the Skylanders Giants booster for Christmas. Have just had a call saying the order won't be fulfilled so am looking elsewhere.
It only seems to be £10 more for the starter pack and that has two extra figures and a spare portal of power, surely to makes sense to get that for the extra figures or am I missing something?
