P800 Underpaid Tax

So the letter comes through advising that my parter has underpaid on tax.

The numbers:
Income - £8626
Of which taxable - £1150
Tax paid - £216.20

Now on this, by my calculations, she should have paid £230, so should owe £14.

The letter indicates this but also has a further "adjustment" of £81 so they are requesting £95.

There is a space on the letter for an explanation for any adjustments, but this is blank.

I thought it may have been an amount carried over from the previous tax year, but she was a full time student so as far as I know, was exempt from tax?

Can anyone help me out on this?

Students have the same personal allowance as anyone else, but if they have income in excess of their PA, they are taxed on it like everyone else.

Did she have a job while studying?

She did, but was part time min wage, so cannot see her going over the allowance.

Would have been nice to see some sort of explanation behind the extra to avoid the confusion

Best to phone HMRC today then and find out.
