I'm sure it's mentioned in an MSE article on car hire - but dont forget to consider taking out excess/CDW insurance via a SEPARATE (eg annual) policy

I have always used carjet from murcia airport, always good valve but the fuel price is a bit high.

You could also try economycarhire.com I found them to be the cheapest, at least for small cars. As others have said, petrol charges can be a bit steep, but you get two named drivers included in the hire charge, as well as comprehensive insurance.

There are those who think they can and those who think they can't - and they are both right

We go to Spain most years (parents own a villa) and fly in to Alicante. Had always used a company called Victoria Cars. Last year we found what we believed to be a cheaper deal with Car Jet and as such we booked with them instead.
What they didn't point out (fairly obvious in hindsight) is that in addition to the cost quoted online they then take for a full tank of petrol on arrival (so they weren't as competitive as we thought as we were comparing apples with oranges !)

As mentioned by another poster they also cream you a bit on the petrol price.

This wasn't my biggest problem with them however ! When we arrived in Alicante last summer it was about 20:00 (and as such the Car Jet company had finished business for the day and were uncontactable on any number - Spanish and English). We assumed (pre flight) that like other car hirers they would either have their own office at the airport or a van in the car park but they don't ! They instead act as an agent and lease the car from one of the other lenders, only they forgot to let us know that and who they had loaned the car from so we had a nightmare of not knowing who to get our car from and had to go around each office/van asking if they had our car !!!!!

Then on receiving the car we found the boot far smaller than advised. We were told that it would carry 2 suitcases and a couple of hand luggage bags. On arrival we were given a Kia and JUST managed (by forcing the boot down) to get 1 suitcase in the boot (stood up). Luckily there was only the girlfriend and I so we could put the other suitcase and bags on back seat but if we had kids we would have been truly stuck with noone to help us !!!!

Needless to say we will be reverting back to Victoria Cars this year who were pretty much the same price when you have factored in the petrol costs but are miles ahead on service (they also speak good English and are available from Murcia airport).

    Hope this helps,
