Mortgage and Nursing agency work

My partner and I are looking to buy a house next year.

We both work in the NHS. He has been in his current job for 15 years. I have been in my current post for 3 months but plan to leave. I was previously in one unit for 4 years then in January of this year left to move to another unit for 4 months before leaving that unit to do agency work for 5 months.

We will be married in March.


What I am looking for is advice as to how likely the banks are to lend based on nursing agency incomes. I get NHS payslips on a weekly basis and have a contract which is permanent but does not have fixed hours. I can work up to 37.5 hours a week and have access to another agency to top up for extra hours.

My partner is in a stable job with a good history.

When we approached a bank for information, we were informed as long as I had a permanent contract, the fact that there was no fixed hours did not matter.
