Bank error in my favour...

Options
what to do?

I paid a big chunk off my credit card this month (£400 overtime) and then they sent it back... but didnt put up the balance on my card!

Petrified of doing ANYTHING in case it goes wrong - but its been 3 weeks and no comebacks.

The honest thing to do would be to tell them. but a teeny bit of my brain is squeeking not to and to pay off even more with the refund if they havent sussed it after (say) 6 weeks?

I never used to have these criminal thoughts :o

I'm afraid I would be dishonest and keep it. The banks are happy enough to take bank charges from us and not give them back unless they are taken to court so unless they ask for it back I wouldn't give it.

    Good luck whatever you decide.

Shove it in another a/c to make sure you have it incase they realise, kep quiet, and as you say, pay it off again!!

Or you could pay it off the same card - that way, if they query it, you can just say 'oh, I hadn't noticed'.

    (can't believe I said that....shhhhh!!!)

Just always be prepared for the phone call saying they've spotted the error and need their money back (which they will be entitled to do, even years down the line), because chances are they will spot it eventually unfortunately.

Best not as its not your money and they make life hell when they (the banks) are owed money. I'd leave it another week then come clean
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J

I once paid a fourty pound cheque in and the cashier must have added an extra zero.So I got £400 I spent the lot but they realized and phoned me and I had to pay it back weekly I could have contested it as when the money went in I thought it was something else I said I was expecting but I was honest and paid it.In your case think I would just repay to the company again at best youve had a double payment made and at worse you could play numb as its there mistake not yours.

    hiya

Before xmas I had a bank error in my favour to the tune of around the same amount as your own.

I shoved it in my saving acc until they asked for it back (about 2 weeks ago!!!) - more than 4 months later.

DOn't put the money anywhere you can't get it back easily enough - I thought the idea of paying it off the same card was an interesting one...
