What's the deal?

To launch their summer campaign, Site4eyes are offering customers free sunglasses tints on all frames purchased during the summer months, until the end of August. Tints usually cost £15, and with glasses themselves starting at £15, this means a saving of up to 50%.

How does it work?

Firstly, obtain a copy of the prescription for your glasses that is less than 2 years old. If your prescription is out of date then keep an eye out on the chat forum for free test vouchers which regularly appear. If there aren't any around, you can expect to pay £25-30 for one.

Then choose a pair of frames from Site4eyes, along with the type of lenses you require (and tint colour), add your prescription, delivery & payment details, then sit back and wait for your new prescription sunglasses to arrive.
IF YOU SPOT THEM CHEAPER ELSEWHERE PLEASE REPORT IT BY CLICKING REPLY SO OTHER MONEYSAVERS CAN GAIN

Shopping online for normal prescription glasses can slash the cost of high street prices in minutes. For more info see my full Glasses Buying Cost Cutting article.

How would you cope with the prismatic imbalance caused by no PD?

How should the customer get their glasses adjusted safely and correctly?
    Been away for a while.

all glasses there comes with a free tint, and anti scratch coating.;) Bought one from them in December, and glasses came in less than 4 days, in excellent condition.:D www.selectspecs.com

bought a semi rimless fashionable pair of glasses, tinted, anti scratch coating, good quality lenses with free leather case. cost me 21 pounds, including delivery. they have excellent customer service as well..so i can highly recommend them. :D

if you are buying a pair of normal glasses, you can take them to the shops to adjust the fitting, etc. this should be a standard service offered by all shops for free, irregardless of where u bought your glasses from.;) my local D&A adjusted mine, but not without a frown on the face of the SA (i never managed to get a friendly service from them)

If you are buying bifocal glasses, etc, then the online sites willl get you eye test results and sort the basics out. After that, you will be given a date on which a representative will come, and get the correct fittings, readings and stuff. ;)

all glasses in selectspecs comes with:

    FREE: Thin and light lenses
    FREE: Anti reflection
FREE: UV protection (Essential for protection against radiation)
    FREE: Scratch resistant lenses
    FREE: Anti smudge treatment
    FREE: Hydrophobic treatment (Water repellent)
    FREE: EMR treatment (Dust repellent)
    FREE: Hard case
    FREE: Cleaning cloth

Does anyone know how photocromics compare to transition lenses? I bought some cheap ones from goggles4u but they hadly changed colour and were useless so I could be tempted on these if they are any good.

Transition lenses are photochromatic lenses, photochromatic being the general term, Transition the trademark. The latest versions are very good but be aware that none of them change particularly well in a car due to the windscreen absorbing the UV that triggers the colour change, unless you have a convertible!! Also the older they are the less they change and the more they retain a faint tint. My wife's 10yr+ ones are now a nice shade of blue:rotfl:

The whole point about buying online is that you are not paying for the high street shop's overheads, salaries and the skills of the people in them. So it's just a bit cheeky to expect them to fit your frames using their skill, training and high street premises for free. Don't be surprised if they aren't happy about it. They are quite entitled to charge you. By the way, Martin erroneously says pregnant women are entitled to NHS Eye examinations. They are not, this only applies to dentistry.

it takes less than 3 minutes for them to adjust it. I paid for the eye test there, at full price. so i dont see what so cheeky about taking 3 minutes of their time.

Just been on the site - tint is not free (extra $5.23 for basic tint) and you can't have a tint on anything other than standard thickness. However the UV coating is included which makes them proper sunglasses.

Unlike site4eyes.com which charge an extra £15 for the UV coating. So no Martin, you've got it wrong it'll cost you a minumum of £30 for proper sunglasses from there!
All the World is a Stage; and I'm going through a difficult one at the moment!
