I recently applied for a loan with a company called Nationwide Loans 4 u. I do not have bad credit but I don't have a lot of credit history so it's hard for me to get credit but this company said no problem we can sort you out with a loan just pay us £49.99 and we'll go from there, I was obviously worried why they needed this but stupidly paid it. I then had to complete an application which I did, received a confirmation email saying another company would be able to lend me the money, waited a few days with nothing then contacted this company they said could help me, they'd never heard of me. Called Nationwide Loans 4 u back, oh sorry they said we made a mistake it's not them it's this company.....spoke to this other company they wanted a guarantor which was not part of the deal. Nationwide Loans 4 u then sent a letter saying we need your credit files, which I sent by recorded delivery, stupidly again!! They are now saying they haven't received them because they've recently moved?! The only address on their letterhead was their old address? What sort of company does this? Now every time I call, they find out who I am and put me on hold and never come back to the call! I don't know what else to do, they haven't supplied me with a loan but still kept my £49.99?! Complete cowboys who are obviously just conning everyone. More fool me for paying the money I suppose but with a company name like Nationwide I didn't think I'd be ripped off. Any advice would be most welcome. I also wanted to warn people not to go near these people as they will rob you!! Also now some random has my all my information on my credit files because the letter was signed for.

For heaven's sake. This is a lender with a picture of Santa on its home page, offering Christmas loans. And they've got a '4' and a 'U' in their name.
Write to them at the address on the site requesting a refund as you have not been found a loan. They will be able to keep £5 of what you paid.
Send it recorded delivery and keep a copy.0 -

I don't understand what relevance the "4" and the "U" comment has. Are you suggetsing that all companies with such letters are less than reputable. If so, I point you in the direction of Phones4U...Santander Loan [STRIKE]£3003[/STRIKE] £2100AA Credit Card [STRIKE]£3148[/STRIKE] £2676Natwest OD [STRIKE]£1500[/STRIKE] £1370Cahoot OD [STRIKE]£1000 [/STRIKE]£650Capital One Card [STRIKE]£641[/STRIKE] £400Total [STRIKE](Jan 12)[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£9546 [/STRIKE] £7196 (Now)0 -

If they're in financial services, yes.
If they're flogging phones or in the toys market, then special dispensation applies.0 -
They're showing an address in St Leonards (East Sussex) but a phone number in the Bournemouth (Dorset) area. This is cleared up by the WHOIS information for the website though:
Registrant's address:
21 Grange Road
St Leonards
Dorset
BH24 2QE
United Kingdom
So St Leonards has moved West a bitCan I help?0 -
They want your credit files? What do they mean by that? Obviously this is a broker. I suggest you don;t pay out any more fees up front, you'll find all that happens is you go round and round in circles to more and more brokers, payday loan companies and guarantor loan companies.0

Thanks guys, I'll send them a letter, see where I get with that. Think I more so wanted to warn people off them as they're a shoddy outfit!0

I think what the OP was getting confused with he was mistaking the Nationwide part of it for somehow being something to do with the big building society that goes by a similar name and wondering how he got ripped off.
The OP themselves said 'I didnt think a company with Nationwide in the name would rip me off'
ZX81 was pointing out that they are nowhere alike in terms of company or trading methods.0
