Car hp but registered in someone else's name
Hi, I am hoping someone can help with my dilemma!
Due to poor credit my mum financed my car credit,
After 2 and a half years the massive increase in petrol etc i have decided to hand the car back as I was informed at the time of purchase by the salesman I could do this legally and start afresh.
I remember at the time he said the car would have to be registered in my mums name as the finance was through her, fine, when I collected the car he said he managed to have it registered in my name. None of this really meant anything to me until now, it seems I can't hand the car back as I am the registered owner and not the person who has the finance......what do I do?
Any help would be appreciated

Transfer the car in to your mother's name?Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

.....what do I do?
Register it in her name, no problems.
But I can't see why the care being registered in your name would stop you handing the car back. Presumably, you have kept up the repayments, are not in arrears, and never have been, because if any of those apply, then the finance company is within its rights to refuse a termination or an early hand back."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. That's what I thought but I was told by the garage I am dealing with just now that it would show my mum was only just the registered keeper, she has to be the registered keeper from the start0

No, no payments have ever been missed.0

Then register the car in her name, and of anyone asks, say it was registered in your name for insurance purposes. Simples."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0

The info the sales guy is giving me for the new car I'm supposed to be getting is:
Do not contact the finance company regarding the registration document
It being registered in my name is illegal
Not sure if that's me or the guy who sold me the car!0 -
It's not illegal to register a car in a name other than that of the purchaser. The registered owner is legally the 'keeper' of the vehicle, not the legal owner. It tells you that on the V5 document."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". Fronting a deal for a third party is considered fraud and is illegal as the first paragraph in the link below explains.
http://www.fla.org.uk/media/081210_Q3_motor_fraud_stats
What you have done is deceived a finance company into goving you credit when it wouldn't have done so otherwise.
Perhaps the finance company won't entertain you trying to to cancel the agreement because they do not have an agreement with you?0 -
Well if it is fraud why have garages 3 times allowed me to get a car with my mums finance? And I know of numerous people in the same situation.
What I have been told is dodgy is that the sales guy registered the car in my name when that should have been in my mums.0
