https://www.reed.co.uk have a free CV builder, you input your information, basic skills etc, choose the format you want and then you can save it as a word document.
There's also good advice on how to complete each section to make your cv stand out.
After having exactly the same cv format for years, I decided to have a change and apply a different approach.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £24,616.090 -
I have worked for Total cvs for a number of years. I have composed many cvs cover letters and linkedin profiles for many clients. I have a great deal of testimonial evidence on the site. I also have an exceptionally high.....83%.....recommendation to connection ratio on my own linkedin profile, all for cv work. You tend to get what you pay for. You also need to veer away from assuming that all services are a rip off. They're not. 98% of my clients have expressed a huge amount of satisfaction and in many cases have referred me privately to other clients. Feel free to post a reply if you need further advice. Thanks. Nigel0

If you use the Total CV CV writing service, you get a comprehensive, tailored CV which will boost your job prospects. Their service is value for money. Just think of what you get in exchange for the investment in a professional CV - more chance of getting the job you wanted!!!!
It sounds a pretty amateur like service to me.
Why would two CV writers for this organisation post on this forum within a few hours of each other, after no additions to this thread since 2012?
How many CV writers do they have? A lot, I would bargain.
Are all of these people "experts"?
If you get others to write your CV, it is not going to be a very personal CV (I'd say it is more likely to work for someone like minimum wage jibs at Tescos, than high-powered jobs personally), and yes, it does sound like a rip-off.0 -
Well, I'm sorry but this all sounds like spam to me.
I get enough emails from them, asking me to visit their website and pay for their CV. Even though I have not asked for this service, previously.
Adamphillips has posted earlier arguing that it is not a good service - stating that someone sent gibberish to TotalCVs and they converted it to a CV. The same CV that they issued to two other people that sent completely different information to TotalCVs.
If he is only half correct, I can only agree with him
Why would anyone pay £70+ for this service when it is not personal to them?0 -
Why not show us what you can do? Maybe create a ficticious candidate and show us a sample CV for that candidate?0

I am a semi-retired businessman who now makes a few bob as a portfolio worker, writing creative fiction, taking on small projects and as a professional CV writer working directly and via several online providers.
Writing a CV is like any other exercise, an articulate person with the time and wherewithal to do the research and assimilate the required skills and knowledge could probably make a good fist of sorting it out.
Many people prefer to pass this across to a professional who already has the knowledge, expertise and time, and also offers an objective editorial perspective that a solo effort will always struggle to achieve.
There are many out there providing this service alongside many peripheral add-ons, and as with most things some are excellent some are terrible (some completely take the !!!!) and most run along this spectrum somewhere.
I started working with Total CV a few months ago as an additional partner when the site was taken over by a new management group. They have been excellent and I have a raft of satisfied customers with a very few that would not rate my efforts working through this company as excellent. They may or may not have been poor before, they are great now.
Of course, like the others they are a marketing machine with the objective of making money: altruism isn't the greatest asset for a successful business, but these guys are fair to client and writer and have a robust audit process. Any site is only as good as the writers they use and Total CV uses good and well audited writers.
There are plenty of other good sites out there and many poor ones, Total CV along with others like CVSite and KeyCV.org are at the top end of the spectrum. If you can sort out your own CV, that's great, if you would prefer it done by a professional for a fair price, use one of the sites above or invest some time and effort sourcing another reputable one0 -

Your grammar isn't the best - I wouldn't be paying £80 for your services when you don't know when to use semi-colons or hyphens.0
