Defaults on file

Hi all. I tried searching for similar questions, so apologies if this has already been asked.
I have three defaults on my credit file, all for debts in 2007. The defaults were registered in 2008. None have been acknowledged by me.
My question is, if the debts themselves are over 6 years old, are they still enforceable? I know they stay on my file 6 years from the default date, so just wondered how the actual debts stand.
Thanks.

Best to wait for them to fall off in 2014. If you havent acknowledged them they will come off 6 years from the date they were first registered, that is, if they debt hasnt been sold on to different DCA's.
When another company buys the debt sometimes they register a new default on your credit file.

I've recently been contacted by one of the companies that the original debt was sold to though. Not sure if I can avoid them for another year and a half.0

Do you have a noddle account? You could check on there to see who now owns the debt.

Which is not legal and should this happen the OP should contact the CRA and the DCA and get these removed. You can't get a new default for the same debt
The debts become SB if you haven't acknowledge or paid any sum for 6 years (5 in scotland) and then become unenforcable. If you paid in the past 6 years on them, they drop off your file 6 years from default date but can still be enforced until SB.LBM 11/2009 Total Debts 11/2009 £44624 with DFD 2015

The debt is being sought by Cabot. 0 -
Noddle is the free credit report for life. It holds all the same info as Equifax & Experian.

Noddle to offer free credit reports
They do not always have the same amount of info as Experian or Equifax, but are very useful all the same.
The only caution is that if you have old untraced debts, applying for your credit report may well alert creditors to your current address. or confirm to collectors that they address they think they have for you is indeed correct.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I see. So in July 13 when the debt is 6 years old, they wouldn't be able to take me to court? The default should fall off my account in May 14. Still a long way off though. Should I take a screen print of the current default dates, in case they try and add a new default date, or will the CRA have all that on record? Thanks you lot

When is the last time you ackowledged or paid on this debt? The default falls off automatically 6 years after default date but that doesn't make the debt automatically SB.LBM 11/2009 Total Debts 11/2009 £44624 with DFD 2015
