Value of Someone's Estate

Apologies if this in the wrong place but I wasn't sure where to post it.

Cut a long story short - I have a Court order against my ex-husband for a loan he defaulted on. He has given the Court a sob-story about how he is suffering hard times and can only pay me £20 a month, which will mean that it will take 20 years to pay off the debt! I am working hard at sorting out my own financial situation and can do without the burden of this.

I know that his mother has recently died and, as her only surviving relative, think he would most likely have benefited from the multiple insurance policies she held.

Is it possible to find out what someone's estate was worth and who the recipient was? I only have vague details of when and where she died. Can anyone help me?

Check the probate registry and you can get a copy of the will and details of the estate, although that may take 6-24 months.

However, if insurance policies are in trust they go straight to the beneficiaries and are not part of the estate.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
