Vectra won't unlock

I own a 51 plate Vauxhall Vectra 1.8 SXI, I went to unlock it this morning and the central locking won't work from the key fob. I tried to open the door using the lock on the drivers side door and the boot but the key won't turn.
I've replaced the battery in the key fob, sprayed both the door and boot locks with WD40 but nothing is working does anyone have any suggestions before I give up and call the garage?
I had a bit of a Google and it seems to be deadlocked but all solutions involve going through the boot to get to the ignition, I can't open the boot
I also can't open the bonnet as the release is under the steering wheel and the latch is flush with the front grille... Oh and the manual is in the car, seemed like a good idea at the time!

If the key wont turn then thats a different issue to it being deadlocked.
I'd say your lock is seized and you havent twigged this until the battery went flat in your remote.
Spray WD40 INTO the lock with the little red straw attachment that comes with the bottle, put the key in and jiggle it about, side to side, up and down. Repeat, and use lots of WD40 each time.
From memory, vauxhall remote controls, if you put a new battery in you need to re-sync the remote. This is done by putting the key in the ignition, turning the ignition on and pressing the lock then unlock buttons until it starts working.0 -

Thanks for the quick reply, I wasn't convinced that is was a battery issue as the remote was working fine but husband and MIL told me changing it would probably help. Wasn't until after I found out I'd have to reprogram it oh well
I'll keep trying the WD40 route and go from there."Organic!! I grew up on Angel Delight..." - Dylan Moran0 -
I assume it starts and runs?
Central locking not functioning is often a sign that your car battery has had it...“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Have you ever used the key before? At that age the drivers lock may well have been replaced (something a few sellers fail to mention) and as most rely on the "plip" it doesn't show up. Try the key in the passenger side and then the boot.
Fingers crossed.0 -
Try your spare key. See if that unlocks it.
One of the 1st things i did when i bought mine. Try the keys in the actual locks.
Because people use the remote 99.99999% of the time the locks seize. Best to use the lock every now and then.
Could its just frozen. Try heating the lock up with a hairdryer or similar.
Dont use a flame if you have used WD40 or similar in the area. Fireballs are not that good at unsticking locks. Burning your hair off yes but not locks.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
They cant currently get in to it to find out....
Had to ask, some people do come on here with some right backwards problem descriptions...........
If you can't unlock the door manually it's because the lock has never been used (and has seized, as mentioned above), squirt in a load of WD40 and keep trying.
See if you can open the boot and climb through instead.
Theres a problem with the Vectra, more specifically the alarm..... WHICH when the main battery starts to lose capacity, it detects a voltage drop and sounds the alarm all night long until the battery is fully dead (same occurs with it's internal battery), I didn't even hear mine going off, until the morning when the thing wouldn't open or start.
But I think the main battery has had it....... (it's just too likely at this time of year).“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Sorry for the late reply been at work, well the result was...I'd say your lock is seized...
Correct, after much jiggling and WD40 (I noticed in my first post I said on the lock I meant I sprayed in with the straw, I wasn't just waving it around the lock hoping for the best :rotfl:) I still couldn't get the key to turn so resorted to getting a mechanic. 5 minutes later one unlocked car and a lecture about using the "old fashioned" key into lock method of opening doors occasionally
Thanks to everyone for their advice what a helpful bunch :T"Organic!! I grew up on Angel Delight..." - Dylan Moran0
