Yes, if you go to www.whatsthecost.com/snowball.aspx you will then be able to enter your figures. As you have 3 separate mortgage pots I would enter them as 3 debts and then see. The beauty of this is that you can fiddle around with your projected overpayments to see how much you need to reach your goal. Once you save it you can update it each time you make a payment or are charged any interest.
Be warned, this does become ever so slightly obsessive!

  • Thanks Kaz that's brilliant!!! Just doing the calcs now... can see that this might be my new 'vice' (alongside Waitrose scottish raspberry and amontillado trifle, with is about as non-MSE as you get but I think we're going to build it into our budget heh heh)

  • Hi All

Thanks to Kaz :T I have now done all the calcs...

By April 2010 we will have paid off £15,307 in regular payments, add that to the overpayments we hope to make means a challenge total of £25,000 :j

OK that makes us very far from mortgage free but will hopefully give us the financial breathing space we need for our first cub :D

Where do you get your sprouting seeds from then? Are they reasonable prices to buy or not?
I need to get myself sorted out with some decent tubs apropriate for sticking meals in so that I can freeze meals in what they will be cooked in.
My meal planning has gone to pot recently with the summer holidays and me needing DH to help out with cooking. He doesn't do meal plans or budgets or anything to do with the MSE kind of life!

I opened an Egg card recently and was given a limit of £5500. I originally opened it as a mule but should have opened an Egg money card. I've now done this too and been given a £3000 limit. I will bt through the Egg money and then use the Egg money as a slow stooze even if I can only leave the money sitting around for 45 days it's better there than not!
My bt will only earn me around £45 but that is still 1 step closer to the final goal isn't it!

    Hi Kaz,

I buy seeds or dried beans (such as mung beans etc) and they are around a quid a bag from the supermarket. You only need about 2-3 tbspns to sprout a bowlful, tasty and cheap! :)

    Small DD update.

I've just recalculated my 6 month's emergency money in light of my reduced outgoings (mostly due to my mortgage overpayments) and worked out that I only need 16k not 18k to keep us ticking over for 6 months. I've therefore moved the excess 2k onto my interest only mortgage account (plus £500 that I had lying about in my current account). I've now almost reached the halfway point in paying off my interest only mortgage! Yayy! :)

DD, I feel another challenge coming on!
You need to find an extra £78.83 to be halfway clear from your interest only mortgage. I challenge you to clear that this month (by fair means or foul!!!).
I'm sure you can find an extra £74 lying around somewhere (I looked under my mattress to see if I could help you out, so I can kick start you with some dirty socks and a couple of moths?!!!).
