Recommended places to buy Built-in Kitchen Appliances?

Options
We recently bought a house that will be completed early 2013.

For the Kitchen we will still need to buy built-in Kitchen Appliances, and were wondering where the best places are? I have checked online, but sometimes it's difficult to imagine how it will look in real life. Therefore we want to at least have a look in some showrooms before, and if the price is right purchase them locally.

Any recommendations beside the usual suspects (Currys, Sams Yer Man etc. ).

We are in South Down, but anywhere between here and Belfast will do.

Thanks,
dsab

P.S. Would also be grateful for recommendations for Places that sell Bathroom Accessories, Wallpapers and Sheds. :o

True for Fridge and Dishwasher, but Hob, Oven, Built in microwave and Extractor will all be visible, and I want them to reasonable match (if not from same company anyway) and fit in with the kitchen units.

You might be able to work out a deal with the kitchen supplier, could they supply appliances in the package?

If not Hennings electrical is hard to beat on price. It's on the main A1 just heading into Newry. No fancy showroom though but always find them willing to work on the price and much more helpful than the likes of currys.. Donaghys is also a good independent shop, based in north west but deliver anywhere as far as I know. I find independent shops are generally more willing to match prices or give discount for bulk buying than the chain stores.... You also don't have to wait on hold for a hour to ask info about delivery etc!

You will find that a built in 'quality' microwave i.e Bosche are a fortune.

Got mine second hand of Gumtree for a fraction of the new cost

Big plus for Dalzells or markethill. We bought all of our appliances out of there. Very well priced and excellent to deal with.

I cant remember the VAT rules around built in appliances, but from memory your kitchen supplier may well be able to work 'something' around you not paying VAT so its worth checking with them.

The only appliance we cut corners on was with a BEKO dish washer. Awful thing. The runners couldnt support the weight of the dishes in it, so dropped off the rails. Got rid of it after a year or so and got a Bosch

My vote also goes to Dalzells in Markethill - easy to deal with; - worth checking on-line prices on models you're interested in, & you can haggle with them!

Thanks Everyone. Meeting the Kitchen company tomorrow, and will afterwards go and pay Hennings & Dalzells a visit.
  • I second the recommendations about not cutting corners, we paid a bit extra for ours 14 years ago, and it looks like they are going to be thrown out when we change the kitchen, rather than replaced due to being done.

We bought Neff, which seemed to be a good brand then, don't know what it's like now though compared to others.

PS: Go for the "completely" built-in dishwasher, they aren't all like that. Some still have the control panel exposed, which (to me anyway, don't take offence!) defeats the purpose of putting a false door on it.
