I'v been with NTL for 6 years plus now, never had any problems. I think it may be a case of "mud sticking" ok they had problems with their customer services, but that was years ago. I've never had a problem contacting them.
I pay about £50 per month for TV, broadband and phone. My kids are on phone for hours every night, internet in constant use, I've no complaints.
if i had known then what i know now

in the past month i have contacted them twice and both times they have been very good but i have had my fair share of trouble with them previously. i think their customer services has had a make over and a lot of retraining which they needed just hope it stays this way

I signed up for a cable TV, broadband internet and phone package from NTL last year, but after a couple of months I cancelled the phone and cable package, leaving me with just the broadband internet and phone line rental only. Then two months later, I cancelled the broadband. Didn't encounter any problems in doing this, just had to give them 30 days notice before cancelling a service.

Have you ever booked a front row film? when the timer buzzes saying film starts in 2 minutes then you get another 10 mins of adverts all the same as you were watching while booking, that gets right on my tits.

Anyway NTL are just about to double our bandwidth for free, I think their ok.

The guy who hacked NTL's phone messages by recording 4 letter words got off! There is some justice in the world after all :j
:idea:I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about:idea:

I agree, a 12 month contract is a 12 month contract. I can't see how else to read that?

I've just taken out a Sky contract and have signed for a 12 month contract with a 30 day notice. To me that means that I have to stay with Sky for 12 months and after that period am free to just give them a months notice to quit.

If you are on a 12 month contract with a 30 day notice period, you are able to give them notice to terminate a minimum of 30 days prior to the expiration of the 12 months. Otherwise your contract will last for longer than the minimum 12 months. Using your example you would have 13 months!

Just a word of advice so that you do not think you have to wait until the 12 months has expired before serving the 30 days notice. In fact, unless it states in your contrcat to the contrary, you could serve the termination notice at the same time as you return the signed contract. ;)

similar thing happened to us - we were daft and didnt read the terms and conditions very accurately - young and foolish as we were the pre MSE days!

Luckily though my parents live in a very remote area so told them I was moving back home so name wouldnt be on utility bills and they cancelled it no probs. Was pretty relieved and they were quite good about it - I did move home for a month between moving flats so only a small little fib. Other than that not sure what you can do other than beg and plead to their good nature.

I'm not surprised at NTL's perceived bad reputation when they have customers like the OP who cannot understand basic concepts such as the fact that signing a "12-month contract" will tie you in to paying for 12 months. Hello...?
