Heart Radio sob stories.

Do the sob stories posted below the entry form for Heart Radio competitions really !!!! anybody else off? If they're true then no offense meant to the unfortunate people, but I'm getting sick of seeing:
"Thank you for entering the competition."
"My husband just got told he has cancer so this prize would be great right now."
I'm not sure if they think it will increase their chances of winning, or if by some enormous coincidence, every competition has some entrant with an unfortunate tale of family woe to share, but it's so annoying!

it doesnt bother me at all ... some people do have awful things happen and would like to cheer themselves up or a friend up with a nice prize ...................................... to be honest i dont think they actually read the comments anyway x
I actually think most people probably have some sort of family crisis going on or am i just one of the unlucky ones lolMassive Thank you to all who post comps & answers on here .i'm very grateful , good luck all.

No twinklenicci I doubt very much your the only one! I guess some people do make it up and after some of the awful things trolls have done on social networks its probably likely. However some people are very lonely and do have lots of awful things happen to them so if it helps its okay by me. Also if a competition depended on comments to win its normally in the terms.0

I agree Zray, and when the comp specifically asked why do you want to win or nominate someone to win then what are you supposed to do ???
i really dont like it when you see on groups people taking the micky out of others reasons ... it might have taken someone ages to decide that they would enter and tell a personal story ....but i guess there are some that probably just make it up , youl always get an odd few that will do ANYTHING to win anything!Massive Thank you to all who post comps & answers on here .i'm very grateful , good luck all.

Some of them are silly but unfortunately bad things do happen at the same time I dont think they determine who wins at all by reading the comments but I guess it helps for people to get off their chest.July 2013 wins: Lilac Skoot, Night out for 2 at Nandos & Cineworld
Best wins so far: £500, GHD styler, Tassimo T40 Machine0 -
I always feel a bit sad for people when I glance down at any comments that have been left, but they don't bother me, and like someone has said some people do have terrible things happen to them, and often some comps do ask why you should win.. which I always think is difficult, as you are then being encouraged to say why you deserve something over someone else. Maybe some folk will always try sob stories to win, but like zray says it is usually in the terms of the comp. Anyway Merry Christmas, hope its happy and lucky for everyone.0

There is an old Chinese proverb that goes something like...
'There is no family that can hang a sign above their door that says "No problems here".:smileyhea Thank you to all that post comps - may the Comping Fairy return your time and generosity doubled!:smileyheaLaughing at our own mistakes can lengthen our own life. Laughing at someone else’s can shorten it.Pronoia - the wonderful feeling that everyone is conspiring to help you!!

Sometimes, a problem shared is a problem halved, and in this day and age some people might find it easier to talk about their problems via the internet than face to face.. I don't know anyone who doesn't have any problems, just some people are louder than others... You shouldn't let it annoy you, maybe try and sympathise for these people instead, either way, if what they say is true, it's sad, and if it's not true, it's still sad the person feels the need for attention to make such lies..
Happy christmas to everyone, and try not to sweat the small stuff (easier said than done I know) xI smile because I have absolutely no idea what's going on:dance:0 -

I find them utterly pathetic and desperate more than anything else ,everyone has problems of some sort, pathetic desperation does get me , so yeah they do irritate a bit but i soon forget them as i couldn't care less about their sob stories , just like we all couldn't care less 10 seconds after reading them.
Anybody with internet access should count themselves damn lucky anyway , but then we all take these simple things in life for granted.
Tell you what , instead of begging for a prize with a pathetic sob story no-one gives a damn about how about going and earning you're prize by living for a month or 2 in one of the many slums in India or a mud hut in Sudan or even better some war torn hell hole like Afghanistan (those are the people i have some genuine sympathy for)
I'll buy and send anyone iPad if you do that.0 -
I won in a heart competition on the radio this morning. They were looking for an upbeat happy story though so I just nominated my husband as we got married in May and he asked me to marry him on xmas day 2 years ago. They choose us and turned up dressed as santa on my doorstep and surprised my husband 2 ultrabooks and a £500 of Amazon vouchers. My husbands already playing with one of the machines. I think if you are going on air a happy story is much more likely to get picked.Top wins in 2018: Trip to Iceland, helicopter ride over london, couples massage, £300 flight from Pringles, trip to Paris, cocktail making class and afternoon tea up the shard. .
Top wins in 2017:holiday to the Bahamas, trip to Paris, meal with champagne, a week in a manor house in France with £500 spending money.0
