  • Was having a few beers with a chap that does consultancy work predominately for companies that operate on the edges of banking and insurance. One of the chaps he's been talking operates a company that does all the PPI claims, debt write offs etc.

He was discussing with him what the next big thing is going to be given out "miss selling" culture at the moment and they've been looking at "interest only mortgage" and "packaged bank accounts" where the next sets of complaints will be that they'll be able to manage for the customer. They've also been looking at widening the scope of those that they complain about and starting to pull in those that promote or facilitate the products/ services as well as the actual seller.

You always have to wonder if service providers are starting to get scared that they could be caught up in costly action with spurious claims against them for "facilitating" these companies

Pornographic sites are for 18+ only and it is entirely understandable that these must be blocked in public areas because that law can't be policed!!! Other blocked sites are done for PC/network safety and often legal reasons, therefore, once again completely understandable. What you choose to restrict your children to viewing is entirely up to you. Blocking sites purely because you don't like a product/service/idea/belief is not at all the same thing.

Fair enough but originally you seemed to be saying that any blocking of legal sites was wrong.

Sorry about that. I should have been more careful with my wording!

  • While I agree with the idea of restricting access to these horrible loads - what happens if someone tries to use one of these computers to make an online payment on a PDL side? They could end up missing a payment & getting more charges.
  • Like others have said, if someone wants to get a PDL then they can just use another computer or the app on someone's iPhone, it is still going to happen.

Are they really? Do you have any references to back this up?
