What do i do about my unsecured loan?
Options
Hi,
I need help with a question re an unsecured loan i took out with HSBC a number of years ago. While i was living in the UK i was paying my loan, I have now returned to live in ireland, where i am from, and have struggled to find work. I've missed payments and tried my best to send money back to my uk loan. I now have circa 2500 left to pay and HSBC are threatening to hand over my case to a debt collectors. I've had two calls already today. Can this debt chase me to Ireland?what can they do to me? I don't know how i am going to pay this without any work! I've probably paid it back already in fines and penalties this last two years! i am feeling very stressed about this. Can HSBC take me to court in ireland for it? will they show up at my door?

Perhaps you could give the bank a ring and explain your circumstances, they may work with you and work out a payment plan.
You could end up with a county court judgement in time, it is only after one of these that bailiffs could turn up.
Deal with it now and it at least will stop you worrying so much. It will be much worse later on.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

thanks, i have spoken to them and they have been very aggressive re this matter. i said once i started earning money i would send some over but i don't know when this will be as i am desperately looking for work!0

Well obviously they are not going to accept a 'nothing now' but I'll send some over when I get a job, but I dont know when that will be.
You need to offer a token payment to start 'now' even if it's just five pounds a month.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

I agree with McKneff - you are approaching this far too casually and the bank just won't accept such an unstructured agreement.
Token payments are a far better way to approach it, even if it is a tiny amount.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
