Reclaiming Money from KGB Deals

Hi everyone, I'm hoping I'm in the right forum for this. In October I bought a voucher for an Ottoman Gas-Lift bed from a company called Jeaniebobeanie via KGB Deals. After a quick hurtle around Google, I couldn't find anything negative about JBB, and I'd not (yet) had any negative encounters with KGB (deals always worked brilliantly, etc) so I paid the money via Paypal (£199), and popped onto the JBB website to find a little notice advising customers that the online ordering system had gone to pot, and to email them directly to sort out purchases. Knowing how overrun merchants get with these sorts of deals, I wasn't worried, and emailed them directly. They replied promptly, and said that I just needed to send them the £35 delivery fee (which I knew about from the voucher's page), but that there was a security issue with Paypal, so would I send it direct to their bank account? Now I know you are all likely flailing and screaming "NO DON'T DO IT!" like the audience of a horror film, but like an idiot I did. After all, there were no negative reviews for them anywhere, and these things do happen, right?
Well, I sent the money through, and got a very cheerful email thanking me for the payment, and giving me a new voucher code to use on their site. When I dealt with that, I got a confirmation saying that their delivery people would be in touch very soon to sort out when they would deliver. Being a single Mum of a child who rarely sleeps, I nap when he naps, so as luck would have it I was fast asleep when the delivery people called. I called back, but thought perhaps lines had got crossed as a confused-sounding young woman answered and had no idea what I was talking about. Thus began the email saga. I have been emailing JBB nearly three times a week for updates, and have received badly spelled/grammatised replies from someone called "Emmalene" (and various spellings therof) informing me they were experiencing a high demand from the offer but delivery would be arranged very soon. It is now 19th November and, surprise surprise, no bed. I haven't heard from anyone (not even the delightfully typo-filled Emmalene) since the 23rd November. Having done more fervent research, I have discovered that I am not the only one having trouble with this company, and that they used to trade under the name "Staffordshire Furniture Store" and have pulled a similar scam.
Now this huge bit of backstory is out of the way, does anyone have any advice on how I can retrieve my £234 back? Is it possible to go to my bank and explain what has happened, and ask for a recall of the funds? I've never experienced anything like this, so I'm at an utter loss. Thank you all for any advice you can give.

Hi Minxiekitten. Sorry you've had a rough time! If you go onto the KGB website, somewhere down the bottom right is a link for customer support. Click on that and you get FAQs and stuff... bottom left is a link to ask a question. You get the option to select which deal you want to ask about, so if you select the deal, select "deal concerns" and "merchant not honoring" then put as much detail in as you can about what you've done to try and resolve it directly with the merchant. They'll probably respond (maybe not immediately) telling you that they'll need 6 working days to try and sort it out, then hopefully will refund your purchase price back to PayPal. At least that's how it worked for me. My postage costs were refunded as KGBKash which I then used towards a future deal (so got a great haircut for a bargain £4!!)
I know from reading on here that not everyone has had as smooth an experience and I currently have another case open myself - not sure how that's going yet! Anyway, best of luck.0 -
Hello
I have had a similar problem with the same company and now they have disconnected their mobile phone. I've now reported them to all authorities including the police so let's hope something comes from it.
I've also reported it to KGB Deals who take forever to get back to you but I'm not giving up.
Have you had any success?
Thanks
