  • In answer to my own question the salary is a little bit of an isssue coming in at £12,500 p/a, I asked the company if this is reviewed once training is complete but they were unable to answer.

probably do a what a lot of big companies do...... Take graduates in on a graduate training program, milk them dry for a year or so and then at the end of the program...... geeee sorry, there's no full time jobs available....... but then they take on another swath of graduates again the next year...... so the cycle goes....... suppose in a sence it gives the Graduates some experience but no real hope of a job at the end!!

From what I understand it's a 16 weeks training programme after which a permanent job is offered.

£12,500 is not top be sniffed at for a trainee post, I take it there is a set qualification programme in place that will take trainees onto qualified over a timescale.

I also take it these trainee programmes are not for graduates ? I suppose in this current climate a lot of graduates will be applying to get work experience thou :o in which case the wage is a joke if it is for any substantial period of time.
I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:

I looked into this role, it's for graduates with existing experience in IT, the salary is £12,500 for the first 18 weeks after which it is increased for candidates who pass the probationary period, after which the salary is reviewed every 6 months.
  • Thanks for the information guys, I have IT experience and qualifications and £12,500 is half my existing salary so I might have to let this one pass.

If you have a job that is paying £25K and IT experience and qualifications why are you even considering a trainee scheme
  • If you're really a former student ask your careers service, they technically give advice to students for a couple of years post graduation but will often do so for a while longer than this, especially if you just have a few specific questions about one employer and they can just tell you what they know over the phone.
  • It seems like a lot of these firms take the Micahel, Allstate are another, expect candidates to jump through hoops and be qualified to the hilts and then offer them derisory salaries.
