After a bit of advice, FIL did all our pictures and has asked us to choose our favourite so he can have it framed. He has mentioned to us about aluminium backing. just wondering what others have gone for? I know its personal preference but im clueless. Its a special picture so want it on or in something nice. any links of pics would be great to

Sounds lovely. I was hoping someone may of had some experience with the aluminium, pictures on the internet don't really seem to show what I was hoping0

Hi, I'm a photographer but don't get a lot of demand for this so only basic knowledge.
Is he talking about aluminium backing instead of framing - as often this is an option when you want the photo to go direct on the wall. It gives a modern, minalism kind of look. It can also make the print last longer and retain the colours - but if it's coming from a digital image anyway then it's not going to be a major issue to reprint it x number of years down the line. Like you said it's mainly personal choice so see if you can see some examples - I would also look at whether he means printing direct on aluminium or onto paper and then back it. The first is less common but have seen some people do it and it gives a different effect to the image - some people like it, some don't0 -
Hi thank you,i think he was on about backing it onto aluminium as he looked at the printing direct but he cannot do this himself and is very costly. I think we have decided on a frame as I don't want to get it done on the aluminium and not like it, going for the safer option. Wish there was somewhere local I could check it out though0
