Different Endowments

I have 4 Standard Life endowments which will pay out at different times between 2009 and 2016. However they appear to have different names and appear to be performing at different rates.
The first two I took out are referred to as Standing Loan Plans.
the next one is a Minimum Cost Plan and the last is a Low Cost MC Plan.
Without going into the details of whether they are likely to meet targets (they all have Red alerts!!!) can anyone tell me what the difference is between the plans?
I noticed that the Low Cost MC plan mentioned the possibilty of a small payment under the mortgage guarantee scheme in the recent statement. the other plans all said that this would be unlikely.
I had always assumed that an endowment was an endowment was an endowment.
