Which supermarket to buy party food from?

Options
In your opinion, which supermarket is the best to buy party food from?

I have gone onstrike this year on Christmas Day and have decided to have an all day rolling buffet :p

Just wondered where was best to buy my food from.

Had heard on one advert that Morrisons party food is all cooked at the same temperature in oven, which imo is sensible. Any others do the same?

Thanks

  • Can I come to yours? Sound more fun than a Chrismas dinner :)

I think supermarket pre-prepared party food is hidiously overpriced even when on multibuy deals. I've been scouring the reduced sections of various supermarkets for party food that can be freezed and now have quite a nice haul of stuff for our boxing day buffet and I'm hoping to find more for my daughers 18th birthday party on the 28th.

I did see the Morrisons stuff on Monday but very stingy portions.
  • Yes, my plan is to let kids play with toys and watch films with no rush to get at a set time!
Bucks fizz for breakfast, cheese & biscuits, pickles, chocs, twiglets, sesame prawn toast and maybe a bacon butty for supper :rotfl::rotfl:

I don't have biggest oven in world so always get stressed when trying to cook turkey, stuffing, roasts, parsnips etc etc at once

  • For party food I always go to Icelands as it has a good variety at reasonable prices.

Hope you have a lovely day

Is this the cool MSE way to do Christmas 2012 ? Husband says the nibbles are the best bit and my mother agreed so hey presto we be doing the buffet thing as well :p

Ours includes the limited edition Higgedy Christmas Pie (I was lucky), Stilton & broccoli quiche, brazil nut wellington, sliced roast beef, possibly cold roast partridge and pheasant if I bother, smoked salmon, pigs in blankets, antipasto, potato salad, coleslaw, tzatziki, watercress and wild rocket, cheeses, pickles, crackers, water biscuits, matzos, Twiglets, Polish pretzels, Kettle chips, monkey nuts, Bombay mix, cheese straws, grissini, rolls, chocolate cheesecake, Daylesford fruit bread, French organic biscuits, mini mince pies, homemade organic Christmas pud, Green & Black's chocolate ice cream, clementines, dates and figs.

There could be more in the boxes I hid from OH as he ate FOUR tubs organic ice cream already  so I secreted it away. I think I overdid it to compensate for not cooking much myself.

If I was doing an actual party I'd go to Iceland too and maybe add a few bits from M&S.
  • Some good ideas in there! Probably only do some cold ham but could stretch to putting some nice roasties in.

I know I've made the right choice :j

Another vote for Iceland. We had a present wrapping party at my Brothers on Sunday and I picked up a chicken platter from Iceland, 70 pieces 5.00. Everyone enjoyed them.
