Budget dinners! ( or tea for us normal people )

So I'm really now on a tight budget!
Whats your fave either home made food or shop brought food that doesnt cost the earth!!

I'm on a 40 pounds a week for two adults.

Sausage and mash...with onions and gravy...how low do you want to go spaghetti and a sauce without meat is very cheap and with the right spices in the sauce is quite nice.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

First thing I would do is ask yourself why you think £40 a week for 2 people is a "tight budget" . What are you spending it on ????

I was thinking that, for £40 a week for 2 of us i could squeeze in a roast and some steaks :rotfl:

Anyhoo back on topic and it's worth remebering that some people aren't used to smaller budgets or live in more expensive areas i guess.

point I am trying to make is that £40 a week shouldnt be a tight budget.

    As for meal ideas .
A reasonable sized chicken will cost less that £5 and make at least 3 days worth of meals.
Bulk out meat curry / chillie etc with lots of pulses/lentils/beans
  • chicken casserole or toad in the hole.
