Bicycle trailers

Hi everyone,
I wasn't sure where to post this query but thought the Green Moneysaving experts would be a good start.
In November my partner and I are setting off on a Grand Tour of Europe in our campervan. However we want to do as much exploring as possible either on our bicycles or on foot. The problem we have is that we are taking our two dogs with us too, they are getting on a bit in years now and can't walk all day long. So we were thinking of transporting them by bicycle as this will enable us to explore further and have a walk at the end of or during the ride.
We have been looking at a couple of different bicycle trailers and also the possibility of a basket on the back or front of one of the bikes for the most docile of the pair.
Does anyone have any experience of using a bicycle trailer or a basket with a dog in it? Is it a viable idea?
thanks,
HBD

i used to have a jacck russell, and transport it on my bikein basket at front, it loved it, but was a very docile dog, and loved the wind on his face, not sure how you'd go on for long journeys, personally, i'd give it a try locally, and see how you get on.

what breed are your dogs ?
The glass is always half full, no exceptions !!:D0 -
They are both Jack Russells!
Brothers, twelve years old. One is docile (and grumpy!) the other one is still quite "sparky". I think the docile one would be OK in a handlebar basket - we were thinking of the trailer for the lively fella.
