Or the Cotswold Outdoor comp, where you had to match the pairs (camping gear)n where you had to turn over 8 playing cards in as quick a time as possible- some achieved seemingly impossible times of 4.5 seconds (to turn over 8 cards, all perfectly matching first tim round!)- again one try per day per person- unless you knew how it was done- which at the very best smacked of gamesmanship and at the worst cheating.

I won at this a couple of times myself, but certainly not through cheating, did not refresh the page, and I wouldn't have thought that would work, as it surely would have told you you'd already played? The cards flashed up for a brief instant (I assume it did this for everyone) after clicking start, and I would try and memorise the brief flash and then select the pairs on that basis. It was so quick it wasn't possible to note them all, but if you could get a couple, and guess the other couple as quickly as possible then it was certainly doable in a few seconds, if you happened to get the last two pairs right. I assumed the skill of the game was in noting the positions on that brief flash, and then clicking quickly.

As for the Cono Sur one, if it is a game with a 'winning moment', then I think they should say so. I enter daily competitions at the same time each day, so I've basically been wasting my time with no chance, by the sounds of it. Despite your attitude of not sharing information on the timing, which isn't really in the general spirit of the MSE comping board, it is Cono Sur themselves that I think are in the wrong here.

I have a feeling that this is going to be one of those times when I pee everyone off, by being at my understanding best/worst :D

I can really understand all perspectives here. Certainly the OP finding the same surname over and over - you'd have to be some sort of a saint to notice that and not even hear a little alarm bell going off.

Having said that, I also take at face value what Sammy said, and it does show that when something looks a little dodgy, we should always err on the side of caution. It's so easy to get carried away when there is money/prizes at stake. I completely get why Sammy wrote with a bit of anger and defensiveness. I would too if I felt accused of cheating.

However, although I understand it, I don't agree at all with what Sammy said about MSE. I'm sure there are people here who wouldn't have shared useful information, but from everything I've seen here, I am confident most would.

All the comps here are shared with generosity as every one posted reduces the odds of the poster winning. Not only that, but even those (like me :o) who don't post many comps still do what we can to help, with finding answers and so on.

I think in this uncomfortable type of situation the best thing is to just remember we're all human beans and therefore flawed. Not worth taking any of this stuff the wrong way. It was all well intended - clearly, and shouldn't turn into an 'issue' in my humbles.

There - told you I'd pee everyone off :p

"As for MSE'ers sharing a winning moment with everyone else- yeah you just keep believing that hun. :rotfl:"

    Thanks Sammy, I will :D

Listen, I'm not going to rise to your anger, not least of which because, who knows, I might feel the same in your shoes. I just don't think it's worth all the angst. I don't mind if you think I'm gullible. You might be right, but then again, perhaps you're accusing me of something I'm not guilty of :D See, we all do it sometimes.

Wars are made or prevented on the ability of people being able to sort out their difficulties amicably - or not. I suggest we all choose the amicable route first :) XXX

I remember the Ebay christmas comp a few years back where the prizes were Gaggia coffee makers.
It turned out Ebay had created fake listings about a month before, and, if you knew what to search for, you could identify which those were.
I bagged one of the prizes, and identified several other listings as they became live. It would have been easy to have all friends and family win the rest, but i resisted and gave some major hints out on another website.
Quite often these things are the laziness of the competition runners who underestimate the ingenuity of compers.
  • Actually random moments are sometimes fixed like this.

Remember the facebook one where you had to fish around in a bag for makeup items - that had 2 winning times each day 8am and 4pm - to be specific about 8.08 and 4.04 :-)

With facebook ones you can help yourself spot the winning times by searching for winning notifications from the app or people saying they've won.

I've won a lot of times by immediately going and entering just after someone else that has just won.
Not really comping any more as too ill - but hoping to win £1000+ in 2017 in cash prizes - watch this space!
  • You might remember i told you all earlier that despite the cono sur comp ending on 31st Dec i tried it for a bit of daft in the early hours of new years day and got a winning matching pair but i didnt really expect to receive a bottle of wine as the comp had finished? Seems i was wrong.

The comp is actually going to continue and is still running, and i got a wem today congratulating me on my win - don't all rush at once to congratulate me, but i just knew you would all be interested to know that blooming miller guy has won again.

:rotfl: Happy New Year all. :D

Oh and for the record i only enter comps for prizes i am interested in or that i can give to friends or family- i do not enter for everything and anything and i do not enter to try and win to put any prizes on ebay for sale either- i'm not that kind of comper.

ergo- i do not enter holiday comps (not interested in foreign hols, though if itv include large cash sums i will enter for the cash and try to give the holiday away if i were to win one), i'm not interested in concerts, festivals or tickets either, so you pop fans are safe from me - i don't do a lot of health and beauty comps, its far too late for my ugly mush, the wife doesnt wear make up so its only for daughter in law or grand children if ever, i dont really enter for cd's either though i do love dvd movies and i would love to win a car- so far unattainable, but i still try and of course cash is always useful. ;)

Right i've wasted anough time chit chatting with you guys, i need to get back to some comping, the crimbo and new year hols are over and there are comps to get on with toodle pip.

    :rotfl:Who cares???
Their wine is not very good wine at all, its very rough and the grapes they use arent the best tasting, and xmas is over.

Nobody should give a ***t because youre not THAT desperate for a bottle of cheap wine surely?!

There have been many posts about ongoing competitions that have suddenly started to give out lots of prizes etc, usually with a "get in there now" type of comment: for example just a few of the many on the "Moam" one alone -- "Be quick guys its now restocked for today. Good luck"--- "Was working for me late last night, about 11.30ish?" ---"It's re-stocked"---"QUICK FOLKS ITS OPEN - 00.05AM 14/11"--etc

This is what sharing is about - a few of those titles that 'mjm' chose - were actually a few of my posts over xmas when "I" found a winning time on maom, and came straight here to tell folks to get in quick, if i remember i shared an exact time 3 or 4 nights in a row, and myself and a few fb friends and some mse'ers won from those times.
So even though i sahred i helped my fellow compers (and since then 1 comper shared with me a comp a day or 2 later which won me £250 cash, so if i hadnt shared she wouldnt have shared.....and so on.

    KArma works in mysterious ways!?!

2 more examples from last year, i told mse'ers to enter a post by weeowens for a galaxy s2 as the fb page was getting the answers (people werent emailing as t&cs stated, and a couple of days later my oh found out she won!!
Then when we went to majorca a lady from fb said shed keep an eye out for my name when i was away, and i said im sending you big karma that you win something really big - on the DAY i returned she won a £1000 (i think) pair of shoes!
There are many ways which karma works but helping and sharing DOES WORK weirdly?
