    Why can't she just take a mortgage on the new house? Pick one with no early redemption penalties and she can redeem it as soon as the flats sell.

    well it was my OH who wrote the title, perhaps he was sending a subconcious message...?

    Thanks for all replies/links, will take them all on board and see what the FA says today. Just didn't want to be sweet talked into something for lack of knowledge about it, I don't even think she will need a bridging loan cause the flats will sell but she always thinks of the worst-case scenario.

    Oh and sciencegeek i'm in Scotland, no chains! :D
