Ive defrosted some braising steak and I was going to cook it today ready for my 12 hour shift tomorrow. Is it safe to defrost then cook then reheat?
I'm trying so hard to be thrifty, but it doesn't come naturally. You lot are an inspiration!

If it's fully defrosted, I hope you've got it in the fridge. The only thing that would concern me is whether or not it was frozen in advance of it's 'Use-By Date'. If it was frozen 'bang on the date' - perhaps as a whoopsie - I'd really examine it thoroughly for discolouration and have a darn 'good sniff' at it.
I should imagine that cooking immediately, then reheating would be OK as long as you make sure that it's well heated through.
Personally, I would be inclined to use it - but if there's any doubts, I wouldn't serve it up to anybody elderly, pregnant, young children or 'compromised health'.0 -
Wouldn't concern me at all ! I frequently cook defrosted steak then reheat, never had a problem. Discoloured beef doesn't concern me either, bright red beef is no good, it's usually tough, beef is better when it's really dark. As long as it doesn't smell off, it will be fine.0
