I've just experienced the delights of the new directgov website. Found a job I wanted to apply for, registered for their silly gateway thing, uploaded my cv, clicked apply for job again and the application went straight off, without letting me submit a cover letter?

Is this the norm for this site now?! Seems a bit silly to me? Unless this company genuinely didn't want to receive one? :/

I just went to have a look at the website and I take it you have to register first before seeing what type of jobs are one there.....Gosh it's very odd you cannot see what type of jobs they are advertising first, oh well it must be the new way of doing things.

Sorry just tried again and you can see the jobs but I don't think the search areas is working correctly and I don't like the idea of some of the vacancy's saying that the company is confidential
It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun

You would think since this site is run by Monster and they on their own site have a box to save a standard cover letter, they would have the same here but oh no.

It is very stupid and if you wanted really to add a cover you would then have to upload a new cv every time you search for a job and attache a cover to page 1 if the cv file.
