Help! I've just ruined my new Nubuck boots....

I bought a lovely pair of Barratts Nubuck Tan boots and wore them once. (sprayed them with the Barratts protector first). Unfortunately I got them a little bit dirty. Actually a couple of scuffs that didn't look too bad. So I bought a "neutral suede and nubuck cleaner and restorer" and followed the directions.
And it turned the front end greyish black!!! They look awful so I cried like a big baby.
I've tried steaming it to get it back, i've tried very fine sandpaper, I've tried rubbing it with a towel and nothing works. I even took it to the cobblers who said the colour had been taken out. Either a faulty spray or faulty material!!!
I'll ring the spray people in the morning ( Kiwi in case anyones interested) and Barratts have said they'll take a look but I don't know what else to do.
Has anyone got any suggestions what else I can do as I paid £35 for a pair of boots I wore once that are now only fit for the bin or dying! Somebody help me pleeeeeeeease. (i'm crying again!) (Soppy old cow

Barratts should refund your money - they weren't fit for their purpose if one wear and one cleaning (with a branded product) have ruined them.
But I agree a call to Trading Standards may help you forumulate your case. Good luck with it.The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -
I spoke to the spray manufacturer and they want me to send them the boots. Not a problem cos they'll send me the packaging for the return but say it'll take 21-28 days!
Even Barratts say they'll have to send them off which could take about the same time!
I'll contact trading standards in the morning. They're making me feel like i'm stupid. "Are you sure it wasn't a black spray?" " Are you sure you used the right spray?" Arrrgh
Am I really that stupid I can't read "Suede and Nubuck Cleaner and Restorer- NEUTRAL" on a can?My mind not only wanders .......... sometimes it leaves completely0
